Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover anything we do! Some places are able to offer social skills groups and bill them through insurance as an ABA session or speech session. Because our sessions are non-ABA and taught by our special education staff, insurance won’t cover them!

Insurance also does not cover tutoring, non-ABA behavioral support or educational evaluations unfortunately. Please reach out to us if you need financial assistance and we will do our best to help if we can!

How long do classes run?

Almost all of our classes meet once a week for one hour - and run for ten sessions. We run 10 week sessions in fall, winter and spring. Our summer programming follows different schedules - keep an eye out for specific information!

Who are your teachers and staff?

We are so proud to have the most amazing team in the game! We employ special education teachers, paraprofessionals and teaching assistants, and other support staff with special education backgrounds and experience. Our staff come to us highly experienced and continue their training with us as well. We love our team and work hard to support them. We boost high rates of employee retention and are proud to have been voted Best Place to Work in Hunterdon County 3 years in a row!

Do parents stay for classes?

Parents do not participate in the social skills classes themselves. We find that students tend to avoid social interactions more when their parents are in the room. Parents are, however, more than welcome to stay in the building outside the classrooms while sessions are taking place! We have a waiting area, comfy couch and seating, wifi, and would even be happy to make you a cup of coffee while you wait.

Are these classes only for students with _______(autism, ADHD, anxiety, etc)?

Our motto at Hope for All Learners is INCLUSION! All of our classes are for everyone. We do, however, work hard to match our students to groups of students that have similar social skills goals and interests so they can form natural, meaningful and long-lasting friendships.

How do parents know how the groups went?

For our students in our minis and littles programs, students will receive a social skills reflection sheet at the end of most sessions that provides a summary of the group - as well as areas of strength and growth shown by their learner. As our students get older, we find they are less excited about getting feedback sheets to bring home - and are also often better able to explain what happened in group. For many of our bigs and teens classes, we do not provide written summary sheets but teachers are always available after classes to check in and let you know how things went. We are also always happy to send a text or jump on a call to answer any other questions about how things are going!

What if I’m not sure which group is right for my learner?

We can help! Matchmaking is part of our job. We want to make sure your learner is in the best group for them. We always love when new learners book a trial class to try out a group and see if it is a good fit. We will always provide honest feedback about the fit of a specific group and can provide recommendations if we think a different group would be better.

How can I get started?

If you’re ready to start, book a trial or schedule a class! If you still have questions, feel free to send us an email, give us a call or text, or submit a request for information on our website. Just remember - our whole team works part-time at Hope for All Learners - so please leave a voicemail if we don’t answer and we will call you back!
